Sama Tanya is a Cameroonian model and actor best known as “Mr. Calee.” He is the co-founder of two online magazines, Ngwa’sPenn and AfroHustler.Described as one of the most after-sought Cameroonian models since 2017, 237Showbiz and Freaky Table called him the sexiest Cameroonian male model in 2020.Born July 1, 1989, in the mountain city of Buea (South West Region of Cameroon), he attended Christ the King College, Tiko and enrolled to study Marketing at the University of Dschang after obtaining his GCE Advanced Level Certificate.He also holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Marketing and Business Management from the University Institute of the Gulf of Guinea.
HIS EARLY LIFE
His passion and thirst for fashion and modeling started as a kid with humble roots. He was raised in a middle-income African home and drew much of his inspiration from his mother – a woman who always loved to stand out amidst others with respect to fashion and style.At a tender age, he developed an admiration for fashionable and classy male styles, and then translated that admiration into his own unique style and personality – a personality that has come to be admired by many Cameroons and fans worldwide.
HIS CAREER
In 2016, Sama Tanya decided to pursue his passion for fashion and modeling. He started with brand influencing, advertising for local fashion designers in the likes of Louis Fame, Visco Ngenge, Beringi, Imperial Wardrobe, Dobrinah Productions, KC Collins, Beauty by KP Cosmetics, etc.
He did so while keeping his regular job as a Digital Marketer at Makonjo Media (a stellar Silicon Mountain startup), where he headed AfroHustler, an online business and entrepreneurship magazine he co-founded with Otto Akama. Today, he backs several Content, SEO, and Digital Marketing certifications from Google and Facebook and serves as Marketing Lead and SEO Expert at Betatinz.
In early 2017, Sama Tanya rose to fame when he starred in a hit song titled, “Calee” by Daphne Njie (best known by her music name, Daphne), Cameroon’s diva. “Calee,” the second most-viewed song from Cameroon, has grabbed multiple awards such as the Best Song of the Year at Canald’Or, Afrimmar and UrbanJams Award.
Sama Tanya has also starred in music videos with international acts like Mimie – Il paraît ft. Shan’l (2019). Shan’l from Gabon, Mimie from Universal Music Africa, Amen by Mr Leo (2019), and Imposiible by Yunick’s (2021).To complement his modeling career, the sexy male model is gradually picking up an acting role in comedy, featuring in Aunty Felicia’s skits as the comedian’s black pointy nose son.
